How To Care For Your Gums And Teeth While Having Diabetes
Gums and the bones that hold your teeth in place can get infections due to having diabetes. As with all infections, blood glucose levels can rise due to gum infections. In absence of treatment, teeth can loosen and fall out.
Prevention of damage to your gums and teeth can be helped by performing the following:
- Brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day.
- See your dentist twice a year. Tell your dentist that you have diabetes.
- As said plently of times before, if you smoke, quit.
- Keep a normal blood glucose level as much as possible.
Brushing and flossing your teeth every day, having regular dental checkups, and keeping your blood glucose in your target range are the best ways to help avoid gum and teeth problems when you have diabetes.
